Day 8: Interstate Tour 2018
Imua at the Hollywood Casino RV Park in Joliet, Illinois.
As it turns out, there's not a lot of overnight camping options near Morris, Illinois besides Walmart, so I ended up foregoing a state park in favor of the Hollywood Casino Joliet RV Park. It's pretty nice, and I've been to a few casinos that welcome RVs. This one doesn't have that desperate, slightly seedy air about it, the sites are very nice and a $5 food credit removed some of the sticker shock from the Super Buffet, plus free hot breakfasts. I realized just how few choices there are for RVers when I ran into David and Annette Lindsey and Wayne and Becky Simms, also staying at the park and heading to Gebhard Woods Dulcimer Festival tomorrow as well.
After taking a bike ride around the property, I printed out my sheet music for the festival, rehearsed a little bit, then went to the buffet and played a penny machine with five dollars for about ten minutes and then split. I'm not much of a gambler, at least when it comes to money!
The weather has been amazing, warm-but-not-hot, nice breezes, occasional bits of rain. It's shaping up to be a lovely weekend and I'm rested, relaxed and ready to make lots of music.
And maybe some white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. If I get 10,000 steps tomorrow.
