Welcome to OASIS
The Orlando Area Stringed Instrument Society exists to bring people together around real instruments, real music-making, and real community. OASIS is dulcimer-focused (mountain and hammered) but all stringed instruments are welcomed.
We hope that you'll stop by sometime and listen, or try your hand at playing. You never know, you might fall in love with music all over again.

About OASIS
OASIS was created to serve players and music lovers in the Orlando area who value live acoustic music, practical learning, and meaningful fellowship. The organization centers on dulcimer community while welcoming a wider circle of stringed-instrument players, especially for jams, shared learning, and special events.
OASIS is built on the idea that music grows best in community. Beginners need encouragement. Experienced players need connection. And the world needs more music played by everyday musicians. Clubs need identity, consistency, and a place to gather. OASIS exists to support all three.
Our Mission
OASIS encourages participation, learning, fellowship, and public awareness through meetings, events, performances, and shared musical experiences. The goal is to create a welcoming space where people can discover stringed instruments, develop confidence, and make music together.
Meetings
A typical OASIS meeting will include tune sharing, guided playing, jam time, and a welcoming atmosphere for beginners and experienced players alike. Some gatherings may be dulcimer-focused, while others may open up to a broader mix of stringed instruments depending on the format.

Events
In addition to regular meetings, OASIS supports special events that bring players and listeners together in meaningful ways. These may include workshops, concerts, community gatherings, regional collaborations, and featured weekends built around teaching and performance.
Dulcimer Oktoberfest
Dulcimer Oktoberfest marks the return of the North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Association to Helen, Georgia for a new fall dulcimer retreat. September 11th and 12th, 2026, join Stephen Seifert, Susan Trump, Mark Alan Wade, and Bing Futch for two days of workshops, concerts, and jams against the festive backdrop of Helen Oktoberfest!

Join OASIS
OASIS is for people who want to stay connected, hear about upcoming meetings, jams, and events, and take part in a growing musical community in Central Florida.
How to Join
OASIS is currently free to join. Just send an email to bingfutch@yahoo.com and ask to be placed on the roster. There is no requirement for members to attend meetings.
Ways to Participate
There are several ways to be part of OASIS. Attend a meeting. Join an event. Share news with fellow players. Invite a friend. Help spread the word. As the organization grows, members may also be able to support programming through volunteer service, leadership, outreach, or special projects.
