Downtime

Even for the shortest tour legs, I schedule downtime into my route so that I can chill and decompress in between gigs.

Sometimes, a nice camping spot is part of the gig and I'll hang out after all's been sung and done.  But often times, I like to get away and disappear to a place where no-one knows me and I can listen to the sweet sounds of almost nothing outside of my windows.  When you live in the city, that amazing peace comes at a premium and is quite rare.  So, on the road, I try to soak it up as much as I possibly can.  It's a restorative quiet, out in the country with just nature and the occasional passing of vehicles to break the sweet monotony.
